The Office for Medical Educator Development (OMED) guides and supports the professional development and advancement of medical educators in the UNM School of Medicine.
OMED accomplishes this mission by:
- Consultation with faculty to facilitate incorporation of evidence-based practices into the design and implementation of curricula and instruction in diverse learning environments, in order to foster continuous improvement among medical educators;
- Stimulating and informing transformative change initiatives in teaching and learning that arise within and external to OMED in order to meet the mission of the UNM School of Medicine;
- Promoting teaching as a scholarly activity while providing a crucible for innovation and nurturing teachers for roles in leadership, through Medical Education Scholars and the Scholarship in Education Allocations Committee; and
- Implementing mission-relevant professional-development programs (e.g., workshops, Learn @ Lunch) with focus, scale, duration, and delivery format consistent with the objectives and needs of stakeholders, individuals, departments, the curriculum, and communities of practice.
