The Shadowing Program gives local New Mexican high school students the opportunity to follow a UNM Physician for a period of time. To request more information on this program, please complete and submit the form below.

Requests for specific specialties cannot be confirmed or guaranteed until a Shadowing Application has been officially approve. Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to the requested start date.

Program Requirements:

  • I am a current high school student in New Mexico
  • I understand the shadowing opportunity is for one (1) day
  • My immunizations are up to date
  • I have no medical conditions that would preclude me from participating in the program
  • During my day of shadowing, I will abide by the dress code requirements of University Hospital
  • I will take the HIPAA training and pass the exam
  • All encounters I observe will remain confidential
